The Parent Companion Program is an optional educational support program developed by Reason and Reality Group, Inc. to assist parents as they guide students through Philosopher’s Cove: Critical Thinking, Reasoning, and Character.
While the course is designed to help students develop reasoning skills, good judgment, intellectual humility, and character, parents often seek additional resources to extend these conversations into everyday life. The Parent Companion Program was created to provide that support.
The program is designed to complement the course rather than replace it. Families may participate regardless of whether their student is progressing quickly or slowly through the lessons.
Who Is This Course For?
Philosopher's Cove is designed for students regardless of where they receive their education. Whether a student is enrolled in a homeschool program, public school, private school, charter school, virtual school, or hybrid learning environment, the course is intended to strengthen critical thinking, reasoning, sound judgment, and character development.
Because the course is self-paced, families may use it throughout the school year, on weekends, during school breaks, or as a summer enrichment program. The lessons are designed to complement a student's existing education rather than replace it, providing opportunities to develop important reasoning skills that support success in academics and everyday life.
What Is Included?
Members receive ongoing educational support materials designed to reinforce the principles taught throughout Philosopher’s Cove.

The Twelve-Month Educational Series
The Parent Companion Program is built around a 12-month series of educational handouts. Each month explores a major topic connected to reasoning, character, and intellectual development.

The Parent Companion Program recognizes that parents play an important role in shaping their children's thinking habits.
Rather than providing answers for students to memorize, the program encourages families to explore questions together, evaluate ideas carefully, and practice thoughtful discussion.
The emphasis remains on developing habits of reasoning, reflection, responsibility, and intellectual honesty.
Flexible and Easy to Use
Program materials are designed to fit a variety of educational settings, including homeschool families, private education, enrichment programs, cooperative learning groups, and independent learners.
There are no required schedules, tests, or deadlines. Families may use the materials at whatever pace best supports their educational goals.
Our Educational Philosophy
The Parent Companion Program shares the same educational philosophy as Philosopher’s Cove.
The goal is not merely to increase information. The goal is to help students develop the ability to think carefully, evaluate evidence responsibly, communicate respectfully, and make wise decisions throughout life.
We believe that reasoning skills, character development, and intellectual responsibility are among the most valuable educational gifts that can be passed from one generation to the next.

Parent Companion Program - Program Availability and Cost
Program Availability and Cost
The Parent Companion Program has been intentionally designed to remain affordable and accessible for families who wish to continue supporting their student's development beyond the Philosopher's Cove course lessons. To help make these resources available to as many families as possible, participation in the Parent Companion Program is available for a monthly subscription fee of $5. - Cancel Anytime
Enrollment in the Parent Companion Program is entirely optional and is not required to complete the Philosopher's Cove course. The program is intended as a supplemental educational resource for parents seeking ongoing educational materials, discussion guides, reasoning activities, character-development resources, and family-centered learning support throughout the year.
The Parent Companion Program is scheduled to begin on July 17, 2026. Families who choose to participate will receive access to the monthly educational series and accompanying support materials designed to encourage thoughtful discussion, strengthen reasoning skills, and promote lifelong learning within the family environment.
Education is not simply the accumulation of facts. It is the lifelong development of wisdom, judgment, character, and understanding.
